The first generation Smart Forfour appeared on the market just on my 40th birthday in 2004. Maybe that's why I like the car so much that I even considered it when I was thinking about buying one. The model for my latest car model was developed by Mercedes-Benz together with Mitsubishi; the Colt was based on the same platform. The Forfour was also built by a Mitsubishi subsidiary in the Netherlands until 2006. A total of 44,302 Smart Forfours were registered in Germany, of which a good 39,000 were still registered on January 1, 2013. The car is now considered a sought-after classic car due to its small number of units. The majority of these were petrol engines (around 75%), and the diesel version was correspondingly less in demand.
As a visual feature, the Forfour has a so-called Tridion frame, available in either silver or black. This frames the passenger compartment as a safety cell. I recreated it on the model. The specially developed steerable front axle is new. Here, it was possible to turn the front wheels within the small wheel arch. However, there is no connection to the steering wheel.
I offer the model in four different color variants: with a gray Tridion frame in black, with a black Tridion frame in red, light gray and black. The completely black version was a special model of the original.
