The Danish town of Ebeltoft is home to a truly unique attraction: the frigate Jylland, which is 71 meters long and lies in dry dock. The beautiful ship was already technically outdated when it was commissioned in 1860. The hulls had long since been replaced by steel ones, and the muzzle-loading cannons used were no longer in vogue. Nevertheless, the Jylland was still fit for war and took part in various naval battles.

The frigate was decommissioned in 1908, but miraculously it was repeatedly saved from being scrapped. In 1960 it was brought to Ebeltoft as a wreck, where it was restored. With its towering masts – the main mast is 53 metres high – the former showpiece of the Danish Navy is now in immaculate condition.

The ship is looked after and maintained by the support association "Den Selvejede Institution" and is certainly worth a visit. Until then, my small model offers the opportunity to dream of the great sea voyage, or it serves as a souvenir of the visit on the ship.

I offer two different versions of the model: on a small stand with the hull fully visible including the propeller, and a second version that represents the ship at sea. Both models include an exclusive tile printed with the name of the ship.

The website for the frigate Jylland provides further information about the ship, its history and the possibilities for visiting it.
