Chevrolet Bel Air 1959 "Olsen Gang" – kit from LEGO® bricks

The Olsen Gang had style, no question about it. The trio of thieves drove a Chevrolet Bel Air through almost all episodes of the popular film series. Back then, the American road cruiser, built in 1959, was of course not yet a classic car.

The car was incredibly impressive, even if the film vehicle gave a deliberately slightly run-down impression. It was also practical. Because of its good all-round visibility, it was ideal as a getaway vehicle, as approaching law enforcement officers could be easily spotted through the generously sized windows.

The high fuel consumption alone could have caused headaches. And no wonder: a car weighing one and a half tons spread over a length of five meters needed to be moved quickly. Who knows, maybe the Danish guys only had to crack safes to be able to afford the upkeep of the prestigious Chevy.
