This castle is a product of Geraldine's imagination. She started with the colour scheme: Gel wanted to use something different from the standard beige and grey. Her idea was that the castle exists in an alternate universe where natural rock comes in shades of pink and purple. It's also a place where there is no war, which is why the main gate is so open and inviting, with magnificent flowering trees at the entrance. There are even canopies on each side where people can take shelter from the rain. The castle would be useless in a defensive situation! She says she could imagine Unikitty from the LEGO movies living here.
The name Candy Floss Castle comes mainly from the colour scheme, but also from the candy/beehive brick in the centre of the model. This represents a central fountain that also serves as a swimming pool for residents and visitors to the castle. The water feature and arches are inspired by the Moorish architecture of southern Spain. The design also features Romanesque elements, such as in the courtyard and with the two towers at the back, as well as Gothic-style swirls and spires at the front.
