White-tailed jackrabbit – kit from LEGO® bricks

The white-tailed jackrabbit lives on the great prairies of Canada and the USA, but is also at home in the Rocky Mountains. It differs from other hare species mainly in its white tail.

Like other species of rabbit, prairie hares are nocturnal. From late afternoon until dawn they feed their way through the landscape. Much to the chagrin of farmers, they prefer to feast on the fruits of their labor.

For many other wild animals, the shy long-eared animals are tasty prey. But they have to get them first: prairie hares can reach speeds of up to 55 kilometers per hour, including skillful swerving.
