With a jet black head and legs and a woolly white body, the Suffolk sheep is easy to recognise. They are a familiar sight on English, Irish and Scottish pastures.
What you can only guess at under the wool: This breed of domestic sheep, which has been bred in England since the end of the 18th century, is very powerfully built and is considered a good source of meat thanks to its rapid growth. Fortunately, however, meat consumption is falling in today's changing times. A fully grown ram can weigh 200 kilograms, and a yearling can weigh up to 100 kilograms. Neither of them has horns, which could help them escape their destiny.
