The first commercially successful German locomotive, the Adler (eagle in English), has a migration history. After all, it was constructed in England before it arrived on our rails in 1835.

At first, the rustic steam locomotive was used exclusively for passenger transport, but then it also proved its worth in transporting heavier goods. Just 20 years later, in 1857, the striking locomotive and its sister, the Arrow, were retired. Railway technology had developed so rapidly that the two were already considered hopelessly outdated after such a short time.

  • Number of original LEGO® bricks: 939
  • Dimensions of the model (entire train): 65.0 x 5.8 x 11.0 cm

This kit contains the LEGO® bricks for a model of the steam locomotive "Der Adler" including tender and three carriages. The building instructions are not included in the kit. You can find these in the book "Building LEGO locomotives!" by Gabriele Ruthsatz and me.

Please note: The electrical components required to operate the locomotive (motor, battery box and IR receiver) are not included in the kit. However, bricks are included as replacements for the electrical components where they are required for structure/appearance.

I also offer a version of this model with 6 straight track pieces and a nameplate. This version is suitable, for example, if the model is to have a place of honour in the display case.
