Painted bunting – kit from LEGO® bricks

The medium-sized songbird with its colorful plumage is extremely shy. Nevertheless, it cannot be overlooked – at least the male ready to mate – and as a so-called cultural follower, it can also be observed with a little patience.

Painted buntings are versatile, their diet includes both insects and grains. Depending on the season, their habitat extends from North America through Mexico to the states of Central America.

The male remains faithful to his female for life, helping to build the nest and raise the young. To avoid having to breed, he has the best of all excuses: the male cockfinch is simply too beautiful and would give the nest away.
