Hippopotamus – kit from LEGO® bricks

Everyone knows hippos, but not everyone knows that these not-so-cozy giants used to live in European waters. But that was millions of years ago. Nowadays they can only be found in Africa, but not even on the Nile, where settlers once came across the first traces of this interesting species.

The name is rather misleading, as hippos are not related to horses, but rather to whales. However, they are not particularly good at swimming. Their favorite pastime is walking on the bottom of the water, where they can easily reach it thanks to their body weight of up to 4.5 tons. They like to take a nap there when they have the opportunity. They surface almost automatically every five minutes to breathe. They usually only venture onto land in the dark, where they mainly eat grass. But be careful, they also like meat in an emergency.
