The beautiful, fast Ferrari with the somewhat cumbersome name is a real highlight of automobile engineering. While the first series, introduced for the American market in 1957, had a slightly longer wheelbase, the second had a shorter wheelbase (this is what the "SWB – short wheelbase" stands for).
55 examples of the second series were built between 1960 and 1963, compared to 49 of the first. The newer car had a four-wheel disc brake system and a 280 hp engine. The Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder became a legend due to its popularity among prominent contemporaries. James Coburn once drove one, as did Alain Delon. These two cars were auctioned for an incredible 7.04 and 14.2 million euros respectively.
