The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was powered by two twelve-cylinder Allison V-1710 engines. These were liquid-cooled, had turbochargers and each had a takeoff power of 1166 hp (858 kW).
After some initial difficulties, this type of engine developed into a robust and reliable model with great demand during the Second World War. In addition to the P-38, it was also installed in the North American A-36, the P-51 and the F-82.
- Number of original LEGO® bricks: 175
- Dimensions of the model: 15 x 13 x 18 cm
This kit contains the LEGO® bricks for a model of the Allison V-1710 V-12 engine. The building instructions are not included in the kit. You can find these in Peter Blackert's book "How to Build Brick Airplanes".
