Harp seal – kit from LEGO® bricks

The harp seal is also known in English-speaking countries as the harp seal. But it takes a little imagination to recognize a harp in the black markings on the adult animals' backs.

The harp seal's preferred habitat is basically water. The supple animals' favorite habitat is the pack ice of the Arctic Ocean, but they can also survive without ice. They prefer to eat fish and crustaceans, but are quite flexible depending on what is available regionally and seasonally.

For a long time, the scandalous slaughter of the snow-white pups was a major issue. But the market for baby seal skins has largely come to a standstill thanks to large-scale education by animal welfare organizations and subsequent international protests. Adult animals can still be hunted, but this does not pose a threat to the species. But many seal hunters have changed their ways and now accompany tourists on “seal watching.”
